Enhancing the Physical, Thermal, and Mechanical Responses of a Mg/2wt.%CeO2 Nanocomposite Using Deep Cryogenic Treatment

Deep cryogenic treatment has shown promise as a facile method of increasing the characteristics many materials including alloys iron, aluminum, and magnesium. However, there have not been any prior studies on its effect microstructure thermal mechanical properties magnesium-based nanocomposites. In this study, Mg/2wt.%CeO2 nanocomposite was processed using disintegrated melt deposition processing coupled with hot extrusion, followed by in liquid nitrogen for 24 h. The characterization results show increases density (reduction porosity), ignition temperature, compressive yield strength, ductility, microhardness. This first time, shows significant relevance deep enhancing an array that may be catalytic improving application spectrum.
